30.03.09   Partnership staff and the police were out in Dursley recently checking driver and passenger seatbelt compliance, and for hand held mobile phone offences. Anyone found not to be wearing their seatbelt was offered the choice of a fixed penalty notice, or a ride on the seatbelt sled – also known as the ‘convincer’. For those committing mobile phones offences, there was the opportunity to view a unique piece of footage which demonstrates that you can’t concentrate on two things at once.

21.03.09   Road safety in Gloucestershire is undergoing a makeover and has a new woman in charge to lead the re-organisation, Sheila Corkett. Sheila said, “The county has already achieved considerable success in the field of road safety but, given the devastating impact any accident on the road can have, it is not an area where we can afford to be complacent. The new partnership is an exciting concept. It will have its own vision with the aim of developing new ways of working to deliver excellence in road safety”.
