On Friday 25th & Saturday 26th March, the Partnership delivered its very last Driver Improvement course on behalf of Gloucestershire Police, as an option to attending court for Driving Without Due Care and Attention.
We’ve been running these courses in Gloucestershire since 1997, one of the first Local Authorities in the UK to do so, and since then we have:
- Provided over 400 courses;
- Seen over 6,000 clients;
- And delivered almost 75,000 hours of road safety training for road users.
Over the years, the course has been completely self-financing, and based on the current client course fee, it would have made over £1 million for the County Council.
Going from strength to strength.
On Friday 1st April we will be delivering our very first National Driver Alertness Course [NDAC] in partnership with Gloucestershire Police. This is a one-day offender retraining scheme for drivers who have been driving without due care and attention, or without consideration for other road users. It will replace DIMP across the UK.
The course aims to create safer communities by reducing the likelihood that drivers will be involved in future incidents on the roads. The objectives of the course are to:
- Increase a driver‘s perception of driving as a complex and difficult task.
- Help drivers avoid factors that reduce their driving competence.
- Increase a driver’s awareness of the causes and consequences of collisions.
- Challenge a driver’s inappropriate beliefs.
- Enable drivers to identify their individual driving dangers and develop an action plan to stay safe on the roads.
NDAC is designed to be self-financing and funded entirely from the course fee paid by the referred clients. For more course details, please click here.
