Key facts: Children start to develop independence but still need support, especially when crossing roads.Parents are often best placed to judge when a child is ready to cross the road alone.Children under 135cms and under 12 years old must, by law, use an appropriate child car seat.

Action points:

Walk with your child and set a good example.

Talk about different crossings and planning a journey beforehand to consider possible dangers and hazards.


Action points: In the car, always use the right child seat for the size and weight of your child (either a Booster Seat or a Booster Cushion).

Has a specific section for the under 5s, as well as a teacher / parent section. Includes curriculum links and lesson ideas, also interactive resources and home link sheets. Some resources are free.
