Step forward and become a healthy travel ‘champion’

19.01.11  If you’re starting the New Year with a healthy lifestyle, why not use some of your travel time to improve your health, save money and help the environment by taking up cycling?

The Road Safety Partnership is looking for volunteers to help encourage more people to take up cycling and increase cycle training. If you regularly make short trips that could be walked or cycled instead of using the car or would like to cycle more but are put off by concerns about traffic conditions, the Road Safety Partnership would like to hear from you.

The ‘champions’ will tell their own story and receive help, support and advice from the Partnership.

In many congested towns and cities cycling can be as quick an option for commuting as any other option, it is often more reliable, and can make for a more productive workforce.

Don Muir, Cycling Co-ordinator for the Road Safety Partnership, said: “Regular physical activity such as cycling or walking can bring about major health benefits and an improved quality of life.

“We are looking for people who are keen to improve their own health and help the environment and at the same time encourage others to do so too. If you are interested in becoming a cycle ‘champion’ please contact me on email or by phoning 01452 425600.
