Annie Street Aged 74
Mum of four, grandmother to seven and with one great grandson, Annie has lived in Elm Tree Fields all her life.
Annie Street’s
The land behind Annie’s
house is designated as
flood plain, although she
recently became aware of
a proposed housing and
retail development
Annie contacted the local
stakeholder manager at
Gloucestershire Highways
to complain about the
impact that the
development would have
on road safety, noise and
air quality.
Annie feels that the cars are travelling too fast, and following the death of her small cat after a collision with a car, she makes a separate request for a
speed camera to be installed.
Findings showed:
4x slight injury collisions on Elm Tree Fields in the last 3 years. Annie thinks this is unacceptable and that it will only get worse with increased traffic.
GH contacted the Road Safety Partnership to request data regarding current
collision statistics for Elm Tree Fields.
The relatively low number and severity of collisions on Elm Tree Fields combined with the findings of a short speed survey, mean that speed enforcement activity using cameras is not justified.
Undeterred, Annie
joins forces with her
neighbours and her
Son and Daughter-in-law
to launch a
community
speed campaign.
