Emma Street Aged 42
Married to Stuart and mum to Billy, Rebecca and Ryan, Emma is concerned for her children’s safety close to their busy road.
Emma Street’s
Emma is also a Parish
Councillor and she and some
of her fellow councillors
contacted the Road Safety
Partnership to see what
could be done about the
perceived speeding problem
in the village.
The campaign was
a success:
The community noted
a reduction in speeds,
and were pleased to
observe more
considerate behaviour.
Emma was one of over
200 community groups
who over the last 5 years,
have made use of loan
hand-held speed guns
and community focussed
publicity materials.
Emma was ashamed later when she was stopped as part of an educational campaign run in conjunction with the police, for using a hand held
mobile phone while driving
Instead of penalty points and a fine, Emma was offered the opportunity to undertake a test which was designed to prove that she couldn’t concentrate on
two things at once.
Emma said “I was shocked and surprised at the outcome of the test. It proved to me that I couldn’t possibly be safe driving and using the phone. I
will never risk it again”.
