Did you know that Gloucestershire has over 70 School Crossing Patrols (lollipop ladies and men!) around the County?
Our School Crossing Patrols turn out in all weathers and more often than not have a cheerful smile on their faces and a friendly wave to passers by. They are on hand to provide a safe crossing point for children, and adults.
If you are a driver, you can make the Patrol’s job easier by stopping for them when children are waiting to cross the road. Please also be patient with them as they are trained to wait until the last pedestrian has reached the opposite pavement before they leave their position.
Parents should encourage children to always make use of their Patrol. To prepare for the time when they travel on their own, it is vital that parents set a good example themselves. Always listen to any instructions given by the Patrol; it is their job to make sure everyone is safe.
The Partnership is always looking for recruits, either on a permanent basis, as a “job-share” or as a relief School Crossing Patrol. If you would like to know if your local school has a vacancy, please telephone 01452 425600 or Contact Us.
