Campaigning: Drive for Life: Design for Life

GCC_0736_A1 Poster-Portrait-v1

Towards the end of 2013, the Gloucestershire Road Safety Partnership were approached by the Gloucestershire Echo to support their road safety campaign. As part of the project, the RSP agreed to run a competition with the design students of Gloucestershire College, to create a road safety campaign around the four fatal causes of road deaths in the UK. Students from across the college entered, with the chance to have their campaign bought to life by the marketing team within the Road Safety Partnership.

The winning entrant would have their design produced on billboards, adshels and busbacks across the county, as well as online and in a series of exhibitions. Molly Corrigan-Jones was announced as the winner of the competition, following a judging session with Kevan Blackadder, Editor of the Gloucestershire Echo, Michelle Louth from GlosCol and representatives from the Partnership. Her design “It only takes a second” looks at mobile phone use when driving.

You can see the online gallery of competition submissions here. Huge thanks to the students of Gloucestershire College and to the Gloucestershire Echo. The design students will visit SkillZONE in March to experience the Drive for Life session, which looks at combating the four major causes of road deaths in the UK: drink driving, speeding, distractions and not wearing seatbelts.
