Drive for life research

In the Team, we are working hard to produce new driver education and training programmes that you, as new drivers want and need. And this starts by understanding those needs so in early 2014, we commissioned a large scale research project into driver attitude and behaviours in Gloucestershire amongst 17-24 year olds. You can see the results of the research here in the Young Driver Report and Young Driver Findings.

So what?

This research will underpin the work we do from now on. We will take what you have told us and work on:

– Improving practical skill levels

– supporting pre and post test practical skill training and brain training – Providing targeted enforcement with Police partners around “planned” dangerous driving behaviours

– Engaging with educators and students to change attitudes around “unplanned” dangerous behaviours

– raise awareness of risks, criminalities of certain behaviours, work on peer-to-peer networks as key influences

– Communicating clearly and directly across digital platforms. Provide campaigns that are led by the needs of new drivers, with artwork and creative developed by and tested on you.
