Rural Routes – Spring & Summer 2013
This year’s Rural Routes Safety Scheme is coming to an end now that we are entering the winter months. And, like 2012 we believe this year’s scheme has been very successful. Data is still coming in for this year and we will be publishing casualty figures in the new year which will determine how successful this scheme has been.
As a reminder, the County’s Road Safety Partnership (RSP) ran the campaign from March to October which included signs being placed on the A466, A48, A417 and A38. The routes were picked because of past motorcycle collisions, so the aim has always been to reduce bikers injuries by making them and drivers aware of each other and the potential hazards on those selected rural routes.
Like last year we want to remind both riders and drivers about their joint responsibility when sharing the road together. So, our message continues to be: look out for each other and take extra care when riding and driving on the County’s rural roads.
